Last summer we added a new late night activity for some of the older campers. We purchased a nice telescope and on clear nights we would invite a couple of cabins of campers to join us on the field to check out the night sky. The summer months are a great time of year to see some remarkable constellations, Jupiter’s moons, Mars, Saturn, and our Moon. Some nights it is also possible to see the Milky Way galaxy with the naked eye. We were not sure if our campers would enjoy looking through a telescope and learning a little about some of the wonders in our solar system but it was a big hit. We plan on purchasing a second telescope for 2019 so even more campers can enjoy seeing some of the amazing objects in our sky!
